Friday, Feb. 6, is National Wear Red Day – an annual reminder that heart disease is the number one cause of death in women.

On Friday’s edition of Northwest Now, we talk to women who have survived heart attacks and other serious cardiovascular disease, and take a closer look at the progress that’s being made to educate women about their health and promote research.

“It (heart disease) is the number one killer of women in the united states today,” said Dr. Rosemary Peterson of Franciscan Health System. “We all fear many things, we all fear breast cancer and we all fear other types of cancer, but one in three women will die from this and they don’t have to.”

Northwest Now is a weekly public affairs program which you can see every Friday at 7:30 p.m. right here on KBTC.
