Northwest Harvest Food Bank says Washington is the 23rd hungriest state in the nation, and the same organization says one in seven residents rely on food stamps in order to put meals on the table.  In this edition of Northwest Now, we take a closer look at hunger in Western Washington.

We’ll discuss what’s being done to fight hunger in our state, and we’ll hear from leaders of Northwest Harvest Food Bank and the Emergency Food Network.

“Our working core has been the middle class, the working poor at the bottom end of the middle class,” said Robert Coit, Director of the Thurston County Food Bank. “Not just those that we perceive to live in poverty.”

Northwest Now is a weekly public affairs program that airs Friday at 7:30 p.m. on KBTC.
